Frequently Asked Questions

We have museums for art, history, and science, but we don’t have a national home for something else that’s at the heart of the American spirit: service to our communities. This space fills that gap.

NMCFS is made up of community-led museums across the country. Museums can be found in public spaces like libraries and community centers, at K-12 schools, and on college campuses. Use our [museum map] to find a museum to visit in your community.

We also plan to create our national home near the National Mall. Visit A National Home to learn more about our vision for this museum.

To create a museum or service, you don’t need a professional curator or a massive budget. Use our toolkits to help you turn a local public space into a museum of service. Visit Create Your Museum to get started.

You can [log in to our online portal] to add your museum to our map and manage details about your museum hours and events. If you don’t already have an account, you can [create your free account].
